A Guide to Bali’s Best Holiday Regions

You’d be hard pressed to find a holiday spot in Bali that isn’t bliss, but to save you some of the internet trawling we’re bringing you the best of the best – a guide to Bali’s best holiday spots! Whether you’re into sun, surf and sand or prefer a little downward dog in your down time, Bali has something for the whole family.

Ubud
Ubud is home to some of the best yoga facilities in Bali but the rest of the family won’t go bored while mum is practicing her handstand. In Ubud you will find Hindu temples and rock shrines as well as some of the most recognisable Balinese landscapes – tiered rice paddies cut into the sides of the hills. Ubud is home to traditional arts, crafts and practices as well as some of the best sights on the Island. You can’t miss the Monkey Forest (don’t forget to leave your hair loose and avoid wearing glasses – those monkeys are crafty!), the Royal Ubud Palace and the Elephant Caves. After a full day of exploring the region, try some of Bali’s best food at Locavore, where all of the produce is sourced as locally as possible.

Seminyak
All the beauty of the beach but without the hustle and bustle of Kuta, Seminyak is most Bali visitor’s destination of choice. Some of the most beautiful bars and restaurants in the world perch right on the beach and the night scene is pumping every night. If you need to recover from a few too many cocktails, shop up a storm or head to one of the many spas for some me-time.

Some of the most ‘grammed food spots in Bali are in Seminyak, including Motel Mexicola, Sea Circus and Mama San.

Kuta
Crowded but buzzing, Kuta is where most tourists land on their first trip to Bali. Kuta Beach is an iconic destination complete with sand-side hawkers and plenty of sunbathers.

Stroll along the beach and take your pick of the local restaurants (just look for the crowds) and duck into the local markets to shop up a storm. Remember, don’t barter if you don’t ultimately intend to buy!

If you’d like to see a little local culture in amongst the tourist attractions, head to Vihara Dharmayana, one of the main religious venues in Kuta. Look for the ornate roof and intricate carvings.

Sanur
Located on the southeast of the island, this seaside town is known for its long stretches of relatively unspoiled beaches and for its quieter pace than some of the more touristy towns. Visit the Sindu Market for a taste of local fruits and vegetables or strap on your snorkel to experience the underwater delights.
